The carbonization process reduces the concentration of hydroxyl groups in the poplar wood components, reduces the hygroscopicity and internal stress of the poplar wood, and significantly improves the exchange capacity of poplar carbonized wood with external water. The moisture content of poplar wood decreases, thus greatly reducing the deformation and cracking caused by moisture changes during use.

The components of poplar wood undergo complex chemical reactions during the carbonization process, which changes some of the components of poplar wood and reduces the nutrients of poplar wood decay fungi, thus inhibiting the growth of fungi in poplar wood from the food chain. At the same time, the complex chemical reactions that occur in the poplar wood during the processing process also produce some components that are harmful to decay fungi and can kill them. Therefore, the corrosion resistance and weather resistance of Carbonized poplar board are significantly improved, and it has anti-rot and anti-fungus effects.
